The cultivar name 'NUDUM HAKUUN' translates to 'naked white', where 'NUDUM' indicates a lack of the typical white flecking and 'HAKUUN' is a Japanese term meaning 'white cloud', signifying patches of clouds.
- Technical Description of Plant: 'NUDUM HAKUUN' is characterized by its smooth, unmarked green body, lacking the typical white flecks of standard Astrophytum myriostigma. This globular to columnar cactus can grow up to 30-40 cm in height. It typically has four to five distinct ribs, forming a star-like appearance. The apex of the cactus is woolly, and it produces large, yellow flowers from the top center in the summer, adding to its ornamental appeal.
