'Gilly' is a cultivar name often associated with European hybridizing lineages, likely derived from the diminutive of "Gillian" or "Gilliflower," historically used to describe carnation-scented or similarly colored blossoms.
2. Morphology: This hybrid possesses a classic globose to cylindrical stem with a matte green epidermis. It features prominent vertical costae (ribs) lined with small, symmetrical areoles.
