Pereskiopsis is one of the most unusual groups within the cactus family, retaining broad, green leaves alongside slender, often branching stems. Native to Mexico and parts of Central America, these fast-growing plants have a more shrub-like appearance than typical leafless cacti and may produce small, colourful flowers. Pereskiopsis is also widely recognised in cultivation as a useful grafting rootstock for certain small or slow-growing cactus seedlings. Its leafy growth, rapid development and practical role in cactus propagation make it valuable to both collectors and growers.
