The designation v. sierragrande identifies this variety as originating from the Sierra Grande mountain range in Argentina. "R101" is the specific field collection number assigned by renowned cactus explorer Walter Rausch, signifying a documented wild-origin lineage that ensures genetic authenticity for serious collectors.
2. Morphology: This taxon is characterized by a globose to short-cylindrical epidermis with a matte, bluish-grey tint.
