1. Origin & History of Name: The genus Hildewintera (now often classified under Cleistocactus) was named in honor of Hildegard Winter, the sister of renowned German botanist Friedrich Ritter. The cultivar name 'Alpha' signifies its status as a primary or "first-class" selection within this specific breeding line, representing the beginning of a series of high-quality hybrids characterized by vibrant, multi-tonal flowers.
