Jatropha multifida, also known as coral plant or coralbush, is a striking tropical shrub or small tree valued for its ornamental appeal. It features large, deeply lobed, dark green leaves and vibrant coral-red flowers that cluster densely, attracting pollinators. Growing typically 6–10 feet tall, it can reach up to 20 feet, and thrives in full sun with well-drained soil. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it is suitable for gardens and containers, especially in warm climates. All parts of the plant are toxic, containing irritant sap and purgative oils; caution is advised. Traditionally used in folk medicine, leaf extracts show antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
